Over the next years, the new international accelerator center FAIR will be established at the GSI site in Darmstadt. Being one of the largest research endeavors worldwide, it will enable a multitude of experiments, where physicists around the world hope for novel insights into the structure of matter and the development of the universe, from the Big Bang until today.
