From Quantum Imaging to Computing – Exploiting the versatile correlations of photonic quantum states
Dr. René Sondenheimer
Fraunhofer IOFAbstract:
In this talk, I will give a brief overview on different applications of photonic quantum information theory. In particular, we will discuss three main topics. First, I will give an introduction into quantum imaging with undetected photons which is an imaging technique based on correlations of biphoton states that have been generated in nonlinear processes. These correlations allow for obtaining an image of an object with light that never interacted with that object. After highlighting the importance of nontrivial correlations within bipartite quantum systems, I will motivate that the generation of higher harmonics might offer a novel tool to generate such resource states for quantum information processing in the near future. Finally, I will discuss how the correlations between different photonic modes can be exploited to solve computationally hard tasks.
