11th joint RS-APS and HGS-HIRe Lecture Week

From November 25^th until 28^th 2024 the 11^th  joint RS-APS and HGS-HIRe Lecture Week took place in Jena. Organized in cooperation with the Helmholtz AI Consultant Team for Matter Research consisting of the lecturers Dr. Peter Steinbach and Dr. Till Korten under the headline “Machine Learning from Scratch”, the Lecture Week  was very well received by the participants. Three days in a row the doctoral students coming from Jena as well as from other universities linked to GSI got an in-depth introduction to predictive modeling with scikit-learn. Step-by-step and didactic lessons introduced the fundamental methodological and software tools of machine learning, and provided a stepping stone to more advanced challenges in artificial intelligence, text mining, or data science. The Lecture Week closed on the fourth day with a casual poster session, giving participants the opportunity to present their own research.
